Other than those complaints, this book was utterly perfect in every way. I believe that Impossible would have been far more interesting that way. Also, there should have been more room for interpretation as to whether the curse was real or all in Lucy's mind. But then again, that's modern technology for you.

Honestly, the only complaint I have about the book is that I felt the completion of the tasks should have been more metaphorical rather than literal, as they seemed a bit too easily done. I remember thinking, as I was reading, that this book was a bit of magical Juno. In fact, she's a bit quirky, wearing red high-tops to her Junior Prom. Lucy is not plucky, nor is she the golden girl.

But the writing is superb, the storyline always interesting, and the characters poignant and wonderfully shaped. Unless, that is, they can complete the tasks mentioned in the song, which is written differently in the book to fit the story. everyone in her family gets pregnant at the age of eighteen, and goes absolutely insane after giving birth. Which is what our heroine, Lucy Scarborough, must do in order to break her family's curse. The song is about a man who demands a woman to prove her love by completing three impossible tasks. No, the Scarborough Fair on my Ipod was sung by Hayley Westenra. I was quite familiar with this song, but not the Simon & Garfunkel version. What got me hooked on buying this book was the introduction where Nancy Werlin (who wrote another fabulous book Rules of Survival) informs the reader that Impossible was based off of a Simon & Garfunkel song called Scarborough Fair. Impossible was a curious, intoxicating mash-up of contemporary romance, fairy-tail, and fantasy adventure.
